Kent inks with UPIKE bowling

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – A highly-successful senior from New York has signed to bowl at the University of Pikeville.

Tricia Kent, a senior at Williamsville South High School, will bowl and continue her educational opportunities at UPIKE.

Kent averaged 208 as a senior and helped her team to a second-place finish in the state championship tournament. She finished fourth in the state among individual bowlers. As a junior, Kent's average was 219, and the Billies finished third in the state during her sophomore season.

She has rolled both a 300 and a 299 game, and has a high set of 768. She won the youth bowler's tournament in Rochester as well, and was 21st in the nation in Junior Gold two years ago.

Kent began bowling at five years old and, when not bowling, works now at the bowling center. She also played volleyball in high school. In addition to bowling, she is involved in several clubs at South, such as National Honor Society, French club and pit orchestra.

“When I have free time I love to go practice and be with other people that enjoy the sport as much as I do,” Kent said. “This opportunity has really made me realize what a wonderful four years I will be having at the University of Pikeville.

“I am so excited to get a great education and to see how I improve mentally and physically with my bowling on top of it.”
